Free Pattern: Modern Card Holder
For those moments when you have a really small, but super cute, handbag for an evening out, but no space for your wallet, I have the perfect (less than) one hour project for you!
This quick little card holder works great for anyone looking for a compact way to carry cards, cash, or business cards. It is useful for all ages and sews up as quickly as it takes to cut the fabrics. Maybe even faster.
This pattern is a great non-woven scrap buster. With its modern angles, you can make it look coordinated with matching fabrics, or use different fabrics for all pieces and make it truly unique!
Step 1: CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
Main Card Slot: 3 ¾” x 2 ⅕” (Cut 2)
Exterior Pocket: 3 ¼” x 2 ½” (Cut 1)
Note: If using a directional fabric, note that the 3 ¾” and 3 ¼” measurement is the height of the finished project.
Step 2: MARK & CUT TRIANGLE IN EXTERIOR PIECE
Mark center of Exterior Pocket, and then measure down ½”
Draw a line from the ½” mark to the corners
Cut on marked lines
Step 3: ASSEMBLE
Clip pieces together and sew together with an ⅛” seam allowance. That’s it! You are done!
That’s it! You are all set for your evening out!
This project is also great heading into the holidays. You can batch sew a handful of these and put gift cards in them for teachers, sewing guild members, friends - you name it!
Corks used are from Sallie Tomato. :-)
